leaders.
One Big Summer is a national initiative aimed at 16-year-olds to
help broaden their horizons and make a difference in local
communities.
Over a three-week period, participants will take part in
residential camps and adventure activities as well as undertake
voluntary work in the community.
It is being managed in Norfolk by a group of local organisations
including Norfolk Constabulary.
Project Manager Gavin Coe said: “One Big Summer is a fantastic
way for 16 year olds to spend part of their summer holiday, they
will take part in residential camps in and out of Norfolk, gain key
skills, qualifications and then complete 30 hours' of volunteering
to make it through to the big graduation event.”
The packed programme costs just £99 per person, with funding
available for those with families on a low income.
Jackie Thornton Community Sports Foundation Funding Manager adds
“We will be looking for community groups to come forward with
projects and activities they want help with then the young people
will decide if and how they can support the groups.”
One Big Summer is part of the governments Big Society
