Tech tips from local youths

News story published: 02 September 2010

People living in the Wells area struggling to keep up with advances in technology are being encouraged to get top tips from local youngsters.

The ‘Technology Hour’ event aims to provide people struggling with new technology, such as email accounts, iPod, digital cameras and texting, advice and tips to help with technical problems.

The event is being run as part of Community Action Through Sport (CATS) by the Wells Area Partnership and the Wells Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT).

Local youths will be supported by Ben Francis from the Wells Area Partnership and Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Becky Taylor, as they offer a helping hand to those in need of technology master class.

PCSO Taylor said: “Workshops such as this offer an ideal opportunity for young people to share their knowledge or technology and help those who are struggling to get to grips with new devices and methods.

“There’s no need for people to book an appointment, anyone with a query can simply come along to the session and speak to one of the group.’

CATS is a project which aims to help young people be proactive in the community.

Technology Hours will be held in Wells Library, Station Road, on Saturday 4 September, from 10am until 12pm.
